The Travels of Texas

So I have decided that I want to make a Blog/Vlog about the Bucket list I have created.

I have decided I do not have the money to do my Bucket list of the country/world so I am going to start small. I have made a Texas Bucket List of all the places in Texas that I find enjoyable. I just recently went on a trip to the first destination on my list. I have decided to spread them out to every other week so I can save money. I will be taking photos and videos and then writing about how I felt, the things I saw/did, and just the overall experience of them.

I have been struggling lately with my mental health and I have noticed that when I go and do the things that I want to do, that helps a little bit. I love nature, water, and new things. With this bucket list, I can see and do all of those things.

So for our first stop, Dylan and I went to a place in Texas called Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg. It is supposedly very spiritual and you are connected to the ancestors and it is just overall rejuvenating. I have to agree with all of those things. We left at around nine o'clock so that we would get there at a decent time(it was a four hour drive there and back) so we got there at around one thirty/ two o'clock. On the way there we went through San Antonio and saw the Six Flags roller coasters! We also saw a farm of Zebras. I didn't even know that people had Zebras in Texas!! Yes, Zebras guys! I freaked out. I am not going to lie. We also saw lots of goats and deer. I swear people in Auston probably have TONS of deer meat because they are EVERYWHERE! They just graze with the cows and goats like there's nothing wrong with it.

We finally arrived and got a map and I was ready to hike to the summit. Enchanted Rock is 0.87 miles up and down, essentially 2 miles all together. Let me tell you now, it is a STEEP Rock. It had rained before we got there so it was slippery and one slip up and you could totally fall to your death down this rock. It was crazy. Dylan did not wear the right shoes, so he went barefoot(it was hilarious). After dying from not being able to breathe, we reached the summit. It was absolutely breath-taking. I will include some photos and videos at the bottom of the blog.

The one thing I was even more excited about was the cave at the top of the Rock. It was very wet so I slipped down it on my butt lol! The top of the Rock had little ponds and amazing little garden-like parts. I didn't even know that plants could grow on rocks but these plants were thriving just about like I was at the top of the summit.

On the way down the summit, Dylan and I decided it was probably time to go and refuel at the car with some light snacks we got at… YES BUCCEES!!! We ate and decided we were going to go on a 4 mile hike around Little Rock and through Enchanted Rock. I highly overestimated my hiking abilities because about a mile in, I was dying.

I have naturally bad feet if you didn't know. So any shoe hurts my feet after standing for a certain period of time. So hiking essentially STRAIGHT UP a mountain and then just waddling along a trail around the giant rock, murdered my poor feet. It was really peaceful though. We listened to the birds sing, watched the water flow in between the rocks, and looked over into the immense amount of land that surrounded this beautiful place.

I am not a very good navigator, anyone will tell you that. My sense of direction is highly unorganized, so around the three mile marker on the trail, we got lost. The trail came to a very abrupt stop and it was either go left into a giant rock or river OR go right into a river as well. We went right and hiked up through some very slippery rocks and streams and up onto the edge of Little rock. We eventually made it out of the trail and ended up on the lower portion of Enchanted Rock and so we hiked back over all of the rocks. We trudged through the drizzle and mud, safely back to the car. I was absolutely exhausted and was NOT looking forward to the next four hours home.

It was honestly so rejuvenating for my soul and my mental health. I forgot how awesome it is to work out but to also be outside in the fresh air when you are mentally unstable. When you work fourty hour weeks every week and do nothing but stay at home and are surrounded with the same things everyday, its hard to find mental stability. It was literally like a breath of fresh air on the top of that rock. I know its just a giant rock, why would I feel so amazing after being on top of it? I can just walk around my neighborhood and get the same air. Yes, I think that too sometimes. I just think the change of scenery and the reset that nature gives your mind just really hits your brain on its head and makes it happier.

That concludes my very first Texas Bucket List adventure. The next adventure will come very soon along with videos and photos so that you guys can come along on my journeys with me!

P.S. I am sorry in advance for the potty mouth in this bottom video... :)
